Arriva Fuel Infrastructure Upgrade & Tank Refurbishment

New Fuel Pipework Installation and Tank Refurbishment for Arriva Depot | Octane Holding Group

STEP ONE

What Was the Brief?

Arriva required a fuel infrastructure upgrade to improve reliability, operational efficiency, and the long-term condition of key fuel assets. The project involved installing approximately 120 metres of new fuel pipework connecting two diesel storage tanks to three dispensing pumps.

To minimise disruption, Arriva needed the team to complete the works while maintaining normal depot operations and continuous vehicle refuelling. In addition, the client wanted greater flexibility within the fuel system, enabling operators to isolate either tank independently while maintaining fuel supply to all pumps.

Alongside the pipework installation, Arriva requested the refurbishment of two diesel storage tanks to improve their appearance, strengthen corrosion protection, and extend their operational lifespan.

STEP TWO

What Did Octane Do?

Octane Holding Group delivered a fully managed fuel infrastructure upgrade.  Carefully planning the works around the client’s operational requirements to minimise disruption throughout the project. Key works included:

  • Installing approximately 120 metres of new fuel pipework between two diesel tanks and three dispensing pumps.
  • Incorporating a new manifold arrangement, enabling each tank to be isolated independently while still allowing all three pumps to remain operational.
  • Installing a new structural support beam to safely carry the pipework from ground level to the height of the refuelling shelter.
  • Coordinating the installation to ensure normal site operations could continue throughout the project.
  • Completing the preparation, sanding, and repainting of two diesel storage tanks to improve asset protection and presentation.
  • Undertaking final connections and commissioning once the new infrastructure was fully prepared for operation.

STEP THREE

What Was the Result?

The completed project has provided Arriva with a modernised fuel infrastructure system, improving reliability, operational flexibility, and long-term asset protection. Furthermore, the new manifold arrangement allows either fuel tank to be isolated without affecting refuelling operations, delivering greater control and resilience across the site.

In addition, the refurbishment of the two diesel storage tanks enhanced their appearance while increasing protection against corrosion and environmental wear. Consequently, the works help maximise asset lifespan and reduce future maintenance requirements.

Most importantly, Octane Holding Group completed the project safely and efficiently within a live operational environment. Through careful planning and execution, our engineers delivered complex fuel infrastructure upgrades and refurbishment works while maintaining uninterrupted day-to-day operations for the client.
