What Was the Brief?
A UK PDI Centre required a modern fuel management solution for an existing petrol pump and 2,500-litre tank. The existing system offered limited visibility and control over fuel dispensing operations, creating challenges for accountability, compliance, and operational efficiency.
The brief was clear: retrofit a secure, cloud-connected fuel management system that could integrate seamlessly with the existing pump and tank infrastructure, provide real-time monitoring of fuel usage, and ensure full compliance with hazardous area regulations. The upgrade needed to be cost-effective while improving traceability and operational oversight.

What Did Octane Do?
Octane Refuelling Systems delivered a complete turnkey retrofit, ensuring safety, compliance, and usability. Key works included:
- Installing a Sapphire Lite fuel management terminal outside the hazardous area for secure and reliable access
- Integrating an intrinsically safe interface between the fuel system and the pump pulse unit to maintain full electrical protection within the hazardous zone
- Connecting the system to the existing 2,500-litre petrol tank and pump to provide cloud-based monitoring, reporting, and user access control
- Testing, commissioning, and validating the system to meet fuel safety and compliance standards
