STEP ONE
What Was the Brief?
Octane Holding Group was appointed to install the MCS Sapphire fuel management system across Motive Fuels’ green hydrogen refuelling network.
Motive needed a reliable, fully supported solution that integrated seamlessly with existing hydrogen dispensers and fuel cards. The previous system caused downtime that could take stations offline for days, impacting public access, fleet operations, and emergency services.
The objective was a system that captured all transactional and fuel card data in real-time, supported external fuel cards, and integrated with Motive’s accounting software to automate invoicing, all while maintaining uninterrupted operations.
STEP TWO
What Did Octane Do?
Octane implemented a structured plan prioritising accuracy, reliability, and uninterrupted operations. Key works included:
- Testing existing hydrogen dispensers to ensure protocol compatibility with MCS Sapphire terminals
- Verifying Motive fuel cards and ensuring continuity for existing users
- Developing bespoke software to import/export data from external fuel card providers
- Capturing transactional data from non-connected dispensers via FTP
- Installing fully online MCS Sapphire terminals with QWERTY keypad and card reader
- Managing the full project lifecycle from installation, commissioning, and configuration, to ongoing 24/7 emergency support
- Octane provided seamless integration, immediate remote diagnostics, and rapid issue resolution, minimising downtime and keeping stations fully operational.
STEP THREE
What Was the Result?
The MCS Sapphire system has transformed operational reliability across Motive’s refuelling network. Real-time transactional capture, external card integration, and automated accounting have simplified administration and reduced errors. Downtime has been significantly reduced, ensuring fleets and the public can refuel hydrogen vehicles without interruption.
