With almost two decades of experience in electrical and mechanical engineering, Tom Burns brings extensive expertise in the design, installation, and commissioning of complex fuel infrastructure systems. His career has focused on delivering fully compliant refuelling facilities across aviation, marine, fleet, heating, and power generation sectors, ensuring every installation meets stringent safety, technical, and environmental standards.
Since qualifying as a JIB Approved Electrician in 2006, Tom has specialised in fuel system integration, from decommissioning legacy equipment to constructing bespoke, future-ready installations. His work combines hands-on technical capability with strategic project oversight, ensuring each system is delivered with precision, reliability, and operational excellence.
Tom’s career has seen him deliver and oversee fuel infrastructure projects across the UK, from aviation depots and marine terminals to fleet and heating oil facilities. Since joining Octane Holding Group, he has held senior technical and project management roles, developing extensive knowledge of Oil Storage Regulations, OFTEC standards, and JIG 4 aviation requirements.
At Octane, Tom leads the design, installation, and compliance of fuel systems across all divisions. He provides expert oversight on electrical distribution, control systems, and automation technologies, including tank gauging, leak detection, telemetry, and fuel management integration. His technical leadership ensures every project operates safely, efficiently, and in full regulatory compliance.
